As you already know Sitecore announced the release of
Sitecore 9 at the current Sitecore Symposium in Las Vegas, In this blog post I
will give you a quick overview on the new features that came with Sitecore 9,
in future posts will dive deep into each one of these new features.
1.
XConnect: It is a
layer that exist between xDB and any device, which make it possible to access
and query xDB data through an existing API.
2.
SC Headless
capabilities which is a JS services that will allow users to acquire data.
3.
Personalized
experience engine for commerce
4.
Enhancing xDB,
Now we can use SQL Server 2016, SQL Azure or MongoDB.
5.
Sitecore Forms Which
is a new MVC forms that will replace the existing WFFM Module, Sitecore 9 will
still support WFFM but in future releases it will not, This new forms is
integrated within Sitecore not a separate installation.
6.
Express migration
tool will support the upgrade from any Sitecore version to Sitecore 9, in
addition it will support the migration of WFFM data into the new Sitecore
Forms, in addition to xDB migration options.
7.
Marketing Automation
– Omni-channel automation with updated engagement plans in a modern UI that is
designed to work at scale with specific support for Personalization, Email, and
Commerce scenarios.
8.
Dynamic placeholders
now will be delivered out of the box with Sitecore
9.
Sitecore forms
integration with Email Experience Manager.
10. Sitecore installation framework (SIF) which is the new way of setting up
Sitecore installation, you can say bye to the old exe installation now
everything will be run through SIF using power shell scripts, different
packages are provided depending on the server role you want to setup.
