Building Custom Analytics Report – Part 4 – Experience Analytics New Menu.

In previous posts in this series we discussed the business needs for custom analytics report, I explained how to collect data, how to save them and how to aggregate the data into reporting databases and how you can display them as a SPEAK report, in this part I will show you how you can add the created report as one of the reports in the experience analytics.

First let’s start by finding where you can find the sitecore items related to experience analytics menu, as you can see from the following screen shot and using Sitecore Rocks in the core database and with the following path:

/sitecore/client/Applications/ExperienceAnalytics/Dashboard

I will first create a new main menu item (folder) that will hold the links for the custom reports that we will create as you can see from following screen shot:

Now you can do this by replicating any “SPEAK-DashboardPage” from the other main menus items then moving it to our custom report folder, as you can see from the following screen shots:

We need now to add our SPEAK app (report) that we created in previous posts to the layout of the new dashboard page, and as you can see from the following screen shot it is a simple step, just open the item layout and then click on “Add Rendering” then search for your report and click on add, it will be added to the “Main.Content” placeholder and this can be changed easily.

Now the final result will look like the following:

In the last screen shot you can see at the top right corner the experience analytics build In filters, in the coming posts will show you how you can extend these filters based on you report needs.
