Sitecore 8 What's New?

As most of you know sitecore 8 or sitecore XP ( experience platform ) has been released lately with so many new feature, enhancements and modifications, In this blog I will try to give you an overview on some of sitecore XP updates.

NEW UI

The first thing that you will notice when you install a new instance of sitecore 8 that it has a new UI starting from the login screen in addition to the new launch pad as an alternative to their Desktop mode for an improved user experience for administrators.
When talking about the new UI sitecore updates for sitecore 8 we have to mention SPEAK framework " Sitecore Process Enablement and Acceleration Kit" which used instead of sheer UI for building the UI.
SPEAK is the new framework technology that sitecore start to use it partially in sitecore 7 and later in sitecore 8 it replace the XAML/Sheer UI, An important thing that should be mention about SPEAK is the HTML5 and JavaScript the build the SPEAK framework.

Naming Changes

Second thing to talk about is that when you browsing sitecore 8 you will notice that there are some naming changes like Page Editor become "Experience Editor", Email Campaign Manager  become "Email Experience Manager" and Marketing Center become "Marketing Control Panel.

Experience Database

Third thing to talk about is the Experience Database which is built as MongoDB to collect all online and offline interactions  allowing huge amount of data.

Path Analyzer

Fourth thing to talk about is the path analyzer that Analyzes actions and behavior for visitors in the site.

Experience Explorer

Fifth thing to talk about is the experience explorer  to simulate the user experience to full understand what the customer sees when navigating the site and test the marketing automation.

Federated Experience Manager

Sixth thing to talk about is the FXM which is available in previous releases of sitecore as a separate installation but now it is already included in sitecore 8 which is used to test and track the external and non-sitecore sites into DMS. Yes sitecore can control external sites by just adding few JavaScript lines to the external a site.

In summary sitecore 8 comes with many great features I tried to give you a quick introduction to these features by sure there are a lot more and more maybe in the future  I dive deep into the mentioned above or talk about other new features.
